Amanda Montgomery, age 42, was shot to death by her husband, Bruce Shealy, age 48, at their home in San Leon, TX on Friday, Dec. 9, the Galveston County Daily News reports.

Shealy shot himself in the stomach after pulling the trigger on his wife, the outlet continued. He was hospitalized in stable condition and charged with murder the following Monday. Shealy was later placed on a $250,000 bail which, according to Montgomery's family, was not enough.

"He owns a flooring installation business," Montgomery's cousin Jennifer Montgomery-Miller told Daily Voice. "It’s not inconceivable for him to scrape together $25k cash or collateral to get out of jail until trial."

The news of Amanda's death travelled back to her native Randolph days after it broke. Many people jumped at the opportunity to help the grieving family and provide for Amanda's parents and children.

"The community my aunt and uncle will be raising the children in have been great," Jennifer said. "My aunt and uncle don’t have much money and live off social security."

To help the family reach their financial goals, a GoFundMe has been created to raise $100,000 for Amanda's parents, brother and children.

"Amanda was a kind, loving, happy person and our hearts are broken to have lost her way too soon," the campaign reads. "We are so grateful for all the love and support our family and friends are providing during this tremendously hard time."
